The exams to get into these universities is extremley difficult with around 2 million students sitting them. Tokyo is one of the best cities for institutions of higher learning with over 100 universities and colleges. The first six years of schooling is spent at elementry school and a further 3 years at highschool. Both public and private are needed to be payed for.
